Work begins on the new Cleeve Meadow School
Bexley’s Mayor joined a special event in January 2019 to mark the start of construction of the new Cleeve Meadow School in Sidcup for children with special educational needs. The new school will be designed to provide specialist education for 120 pupils aged 11-19 with moderate learning difficulties. The new free school will have 12 teaching rooms, a therapeutic hub, large open plan library and IT space. Facilities will also include a specialist music department, performing arts centre and a full-sized artificial football pitch that will also be available for Cleeve Park School pupils to use. read more

Funding agreement agreed for Cleeve Meadow School
Mark Norman, Head of South East and South London Unit, Free Schools Directorate said: "I am very pleased to confirm that the Secretary of State has agreed to enter into a funding agreement with The Kemnal Academies Trust in relation to Cleeve Meadow School – a 120 place special school for pupils aged 11 to 19 with Moderate Learning Difficulties in the London Borough of Bexley. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the great commitment and energy which you and your colleagues have shown in reaching this point. Free schools form an integral part of the Government’s education policy to improve choice and drive up standards in schools. I am therefore delighted that Cleeve Meadow School will bring new opportunities for children in the London Borough of Bexley. read more

Brand new Free School in Sidcup given the green light to proceed
Proposals for a new Secondary school in Sidcup for children with special educational needs has been given the green light by the Department for Education, and is due to open in September 2019. Cleeve Meadow School will provide highly specialised education for 120 pupils aged 11 and 19 years and will be supported by Marlborough Special School, Sidcup. Pupils with moderate learning difficulties, which could include speech, language and communication difficulties, behavioural difficulties, physical disabilities and sensory impairments will benefit from bespoke learning packages, specialised teaching and state-of-the-art facilities. The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) will manage the school as part of its family of 44 Academies across London and the South of England. read more
