Literacy Week - 18-22nd January 2021 - Theme "Magic"
17 January 2021
The week of the 8th to 22nd January 2021 will be our first Literacy Week of 2021
The theme is MAGIC!
Literacy Week will take place on google classroom and in school for students who are attending. Please keep your eye out on google classroom for the following activities:
- Online Treasure hunt
- Class reading competition - 1 paper chain for every book read - “real” books and audiobooks count.
- Magic crafts
- Activities based around short passages from books with a magic theme
- Reading to Baloo
In addition to this we are setting up a link to Myon which is part of our Accelerated Reader programme and provides access to hundreds of e-books which students can read or listen to. More details will be sent out shortly.
The idea of this week is to try to further engage students with reading, this is proven to have the most dramatic impact on learning skills, building of vocabulary and increasing life chances. We are also trying to ensure maximum student engagement through different weekly focuses.
I would like to request all parents to please get involved with some of these reading activities and share a love of reading and books, in the words of Dr Seuss…….. ‘The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go’.
Please see the links below on how to support your child with their learning.
