School Mental Health Award

7 February 2022

Cleeve Meadow School is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools ‘School Mental Health Award’ – Silver Status.

About the award:

The Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools in partnership with Minds Ahead exists to strengthen the mental health of the next generation by supporting schools to make a positive change at all levels of the UK’s and International education systems, thereby improving outcomes and life chances.

The Centre is focused on evidence-based solutions which address schools’, pupils and parents/carers needs; and brings together a professional community of school mental health leads and other educational and mental health practitioners. Our work is focussed on supporting schools to develop a culture of positive mental health.

Extracts from the report:

"The school has an excellent record of training all teaching and support staff including First Aid Mental Health for staff to support colleagues as well as supporting students."

"Staff are encouraged to do training that contributes to the development of their own wellbeing or that of students e.g., Lego therapy and Occupational Therapy."

"Their values are: Positivity, Wellbeing and Empowerment and these are at the heart of all decisions to enable students to reach their potential."

"Students are given responsibilities within the school and are elected by their peers to e.g., School Council, Well-being Reps, Online safety, Classroom reps, Buddies and Eco reps. Students support each other by acting as monitors around the school including during lunchtime."
